The promise of heaven

On him was sarcasm lost
On him was a fortune cost
On him were eons spent
To him hundred messages sent
What did I get in return?
What lesson did I learn?
Did he give me a heart burn?
Only a fool will hope
And I hope against hope
There is pleasure in pain
Like the falling drops of rain
And this pleasure I feel
From my head to my heel
Is this but a whim?
Do I love him?
Which ocean do I swim?
Where am I going?
To which coast am I rowing?
I know not nor do I wish to
For not knowing is pain too
For to see the view is a thrill
The view on the other side of the hill
Climbing to see what is hidden
The climb is more than heaven
For it is the promise of heaven
